Betsey Cox women in the fourth year of the leadership
program call themselves STAF—Staff less one “f”. These
young women  have spent a considerable amount of time at
Betsey Cox, as campers and as participants in three years of
our leadership program. The Staf year is by application and
reference-based acceptance.  Staf are a strong, positive,
exuberant influence in our community.

Staf help develop and run Saturday activities and manage
the organization of the BC Sunday seminar program- special
activities offered only on Sundays taught by campers and staff
alike.  It is a time when we share our hidden talents with each
other!

During this year of our leadership program, the Staf take
on a camp improvement project under the guidance of a senior
staff member. Some examples of these projects are:  a small
barn at the farm to add more shelter for the  animals, an asian-
influenced  pagoda,  a re-directed and re-routed pond path, and
a restoration of a camp historic site.

Staf live in camper cabins as junior counselors and they
are valuable members of the cabin staff team.  They pay a
small amount of tuition  and receive a stipend for their work as
they approach joining the staff as full-time counselors. Each
season, one or two senior staff members are dedicated as their
"point" staff and offer support and guidance to each Staf and
the group as a whole throughout the summer.
